Moving Forward

            Hello! Greetings! Welcome to another update post. This will be a short one, as the only real thing I need to mention is that I’ll be moving to a new website to host my content. The primary reason is that I want a site that looks more professional than a freewebs platform like Blogger. With a proper site, I can make it look better, customize it more, and hopefully reach a wider audience—once I work out some backend issues, that is.

            This old site will still remain online; it’s not going anywhere. I just won’t be promoting it as much, aside from links on things like my Linktree (where I’ll mark it as my “Deprecated Website”) or in older Reddit/Twitter posts.

            The new site in question is called Yappari.Info; yappari.net was already taken. This was actually one of the beta names I had for this site, but I later realized that I liked it much more than Mega Convoy. “Yappari” is a Japanese term that translates to “as expected,” “I knew it!” or “after all.” Basically, it’s an adverb used when something happens just as anticipated. Since I talk a lot about Japanese stuff, and since I’m basically the living embodiment of the nerd emoji, I thought the name fit perfectly. It’s also a common enough phrase in Japanese media to be recognizable, but not as basic as words like baka, sugoi, or kawaii.

            I’ve actually been working on the new site since around May, but the biggest hurdle has been transferring my old posts. It’s… not fun. There are plugins that automate the process, but because Blogger uses some weird ass Mickey Mouse–type HTML formatting, the results often break when moved to WordPress. Paragraph spacing goes haywire, images aren’t centered properly, indentation becomes inconsistent, bullet point lists get corrupted—the works. Copy-pasting directly from Google Docs doesn’t fix these issues either.

            After weeks of experimenting, the only reliable solution has been to manually edit each post one by one to fix the formatting. At this point, I’ve updated all but two posts: the FE11 Localization article and the FE Fan Translations article. Those pages are so large and have so much content that they crash my browser whenever I try editing them. Even when they load, editing is painfully slow—like half a frame per hour, I know, comedy gold. Some of my other long-form posts, like the Danganronpa one, had similar problems, but at least they needed only minor edits. The FE11 and FE fan translation pages, though, will have to be completely rewritten from the ground up. I’m aiming to republish them within the next few months on the new site.

            That said, I didn’t want this update to just be, “Hey, I’m back,” only to vanish again for another six months. So, on the new site, I’ve posted a brand-new article about Alice in Wonderland. It’s a special piece I’ve been working on for a while, and I hope you all enjoy it.
